PHYTON
WE SHALL
TEA TIME
There may be no better lifestyle edit for a more sustainable world than with an increased consumption of tea. Admittedly, it doesn't seem like a revolutionary step, but it's one that may make us healthier, less prone to disease and more agile as we age.
I've been a tea drinker my whole life, much of that time I really though little of the practice - I considered it just another beverage option amongst several. I now think of it as a brilliant beverage, a collaboration between the best nature has to offer us: water, and extensive collection of phytonutrients.
Fluids carry a elite clearance with our body because our bodies value hydration status above all priorities. So the nutrients or toxins we supplement in what we drink are granted a higher priority for absorption. And fluids are absorbed much more quickly than food, often directly from the stomach, most usually from the small intestines. This makes tea the exceptional for nutrient delivery, especially those ingested specifically for medicinal purposes.
I won't tell you that drinking sodas everyday will give you cancer, it's unverified, irresponsible to say such things and a gross over generalization. Instead, I'd like to bring you little quips about the science and research about tea options. Rather than organizing these entries as blog articles, I'd like to develop a menu database of to the point pearls for you to engage at will. I like this form of organization because not all teas are created equal, each contains different phytonutrients, benefits and side effects that need to be understood to be used properly.
I will also share that I spent two decades practicing as a physician, mainly on the West Coast in the United States. As a science leaning youth and young medical student, I was lead to believe the benefits of teas and phytonutrients were marginal at best, often over exaggerate and frequently dangerous. The pharmaceutical companies would admit that they studied natural products, with the sole intent of taming and entraining predictable and reliable results.
I admit that phytonutrients need to be handled with care, that adverse effect must be understood and benefits weighed. I will also admit that the environment a plant grows in will influence the quantity and quality of their phytonutrients - so by nature, it is less predictable than a pharmaceutical tablet. Still, I would prefer to utilize natural phytonutrient medicines in the form of tea than to ever be subjected to the pharmaceutical options.
In this menu database project, I will share with you what I have learned and benefited from on my journey of natural health discovery. In truth, I have used phytonutrients to definitively manage issues that modern medicine struggles with to this day. I have even used many of these teas with my dogs, just placing a little in their water, to quickly manage their issue, only after researching to assure their metabolism could tolerate it.
Because foraging plants often requires it's own botanical expertise [many plants look quite similar, some mimicries have significant difference in their adverse effects, even toxic], I am recommending a top quality tea company as a source for your reference. While advanced tea drinkers may prefer to forage their own plants for their beverage, there are the rest of us that just want to get quality tea from a reliable source - it's an honor and privilege to direct you to TEA REBELLION.
As an affiliate marketer, when you click on the links, I will receive a small tip for recommending the product, but it will not change the price you pay should you choose to purchase with them.
TEA REBELLION is a UK based company that prioritizes quality products, while remaining sensitive to the socioeconomic challenges of their source tea farmers. Founded by a woman entrepreneur, Annabel Kalmar was inspired to create a social enterprise to change how tea is traded, marketed and consumed.
Please stay tuned as I populate the menu database of this project with some of my favorite phytonutrient options for tea beverages, subscribe below so you can be notified of new entries. In addition to the database, in the future I will address best tea brewing options, tea ceremonies, tea sets and receptacles, and other tea culture antidotes All this because I earnestly believe this ancient practice could be invaluable for our health and our relationship with our planet's phyto-kingdom as we march toward our future aligned with our highest potential. In this budding era, we shall phyton!
